I personally found it really light weight, Vin was kind enough to take me out and show me the ropes and use his box, it suits what I need so that's what I'll try and get.

Everyone's got there own ways and preferences.

I thought the plastic box maker was from this site tbh hence the post.

You need a slower dog mate....a dog hitting anything at the speed of light is going to get emotional.. that's why mine are so fat... it slows em down...lol.

For the amount of work you will be doing with your ferrets it wont really make much of a difference lass.... I would just go for a nice well made cheap and cheerfull box of the wooden variety.

I got the plastic boxes to replace cheap and inferior wooden items I had previously bought..my big hobs had chewed and scratched at the holes in them for a full season and they had to be patched up and repaired on numerous occasions to avoid escape.. in the end I just got these because I know they will last longer than I will live.

Apart from all the banter from the boys etc etc... they are lightweight and very strong...they do get sweaty if its a hot day with the suns beating down on them...but like I have said a bit of ventilation sorts that one out.. and they get just as hot in a wooden box if the heat is on... ( I know chaps who have killed ferrets from leaving them in a wooden box for too long in hot weather )

someone else said if you cant find a decent cheap wooden box with a lid and a few holes...find something else you can use.. I remember one of our mates having his in one of those big plastic feed tubs with the lid on...as long as the ferrets can breath and not get damaged whilst in transport that all that matters... I used to take my little jill out in an old bank bag with a bit of string tied up the end.

I've seen some nice fishing boxes/baskets that could make ace ferreting kit and a very nice comfy seat to sit on whilst taking in the action..

what about that contraption the Mink hunter chap is using...one of them little plastic paint tubs with some holes drilled for ventilation.. endless possibilities out there and everywhere you look really.

You'll be making your own nets next lass. .

at one point I put down 16 nets and had dogs on standby.... A bunny bolted, slipped the net and then outmaneuvered both dogs on a course a bloody labrador would have made look easy.. :whistling:

Just wished I had videoed it to show the world how shite my dogs are 99% of the time.. They also missed an horizontal bolt from a bank that I could have caught myself.

My next dog will be one of Trev's Whippets.

I think it was those I saw back on summer anyway, I'd like to be in the que for one of those they look a nice sort ??
