Rez 4,961
Today I went out on the birds. Again. Same kinda location. Tall fur trees with other tree intersecting. Loads of bloody spindly twigs and so on. A mission threading pellets through, but with the rapid its getting easier. Perhaps. Took mr squirrel first after a long wait. Playing silly buggers, he goes one way, I go the other kinda thing. Did my swede in. Fortunately, having forgotten about him, a large barn owl pitched in on his side of the tree, thus, he made an appearance round my side. It was cool to see, not only for it to be a barn owl, but the fact, as soon as that bird appeared, he did a quick move. Like he knew he was being watched. So he dropped nice and clean. Then had some great sport on the pigeons. Managed 3, missed 3 with twigs just getting the better of me, then on the way back to the gun slip, having scared a large flock out of the trees further down the tree line, I noticed them all coming back in almost straight away. So waited a little longer and had one more. It was basically pitch black by then, but could just make out a silhouette about 25 yards away. Only shooting on 3 x around this roost. Its not the fact that the targets appear far away, it the fact that there is so many branches and such and with the glass set low, I give myself a chance. A good spot. Always produces. On a negative note. Me f’kin rifle fell over. Not happy. Just watched it in like slow motion, slip from being propped up on a tree. Cold sweats. Thought it might of knocked the optic off, zero wise, but no, bang on still. Bloody hardy things these old 7’s 8 Quote Link to post
