DogFox123 1,379
Boxing at it's worst yet again, how the hell did Ward win that fight?
johnny boy68 11,726
Terrible decision, I thought Kovalev did enough.
DogFox123 1,379
He clearly did enough. In the 6th round the Sky team were saying how good Ward is coming on. I was saying out loud "Are these idiots watching the same fight!?!?" It wasn't the worst of robberies but he was robbed, I seriously wish fights were ended when a fighter is knocked out, stopped or quits. The judges can go f**k themselves, Ward is massively overrated. DogFox123 1,379
Personal advice, if you're watching the fight for the first time do it with the sound really down or off. I thought Macklin and Co were way off.
dogmad riley 1,356
Kovalev won that imo. Both excellent fights. It was a very close fight
DogFox123 1,379
I seriously don't get the hype about Ward, he's a wrestler not a fist fighter. He's boring as hell. Kovalev won but he fought the wrong fight for much of the bout. He was picking Ward apart early , staggering him with a jab and dropping him with a good right. Afterwards even though he was winning rounds he was getting caught up in Ward's hug fest tactics instead of picking him off. Ward was his typical boring overhyped self throughout the fight. Kovalev will stop him in the rematch, next time don't let it go to the judges. Edited November 20, 2016 by DogFox123
VOON 1,317
Don't even want to see the rematch, ward lost the first 4, maybe sneaked the 5th, lost the 6th, won the 7th, drew the 8th, lost the 9th, drew the 10th, sneaked the last 2....realises he couldn't take kovalev's power and went to the body because he could shell up and hide from kovalev's right hand. He didn't do enough to win the fight for me.

The guy must have clearly been watching a different fight to me....

I feel for Kovalev because he's been a great champion, I hope he comes back stronger.
Crackers 807
Ward never won that.... just watched it.... 3 American judges even ward looked surprised ?
MickC 1,825
Boxing needs a revamp, compulsory drug testing for all fighters , weigh in on day of fight and 15 rounds for World title fights would be a good start . gnasher16 31,602
I dont normally like sitting on the fence with draws but if ever i had to give one that was it so when a fights as close as that i wouldnt argue strongly either way though saying that a challenger normally has to win decisively to get the nod in a title fight and it wasnt decisive.......i thought Kovalev beyond his general strength and power was disappointing you dont get points for just walking forward Wards adjustments worked for him and the body shots slowed Kovalev down in the second half but i do think the rounds Kovalev won he won bigger than the rounds Ward won but all in all i thought it was a good technical fight. DogFox123 1,379
I believe Kovalev won the fight quite comfortably and so did the majority of people. It is what it is though and I thought Kovalev fought the wrong fight after the opening few rounds. The wrestling affected him more than Ward imo. He had the ability to pick him apart, I hope he does in the rematch. Edited November 20, 2016 by DogFox123

Not to forget open scoring, that way at least the fighters know when the fix is in.
pesky1972 5,729
Agreed with the judges and thought Ward deserved to edge it.
