Back On Thl & We're Finally Upping Sticks

Recommended Posts

Yep Wilf's right there. Even though everything is going down the pan for us were not in the worst situation ever as we have collateral in a house that is suddenly quite desirable, we only have one young child and I can work from home or at least go back overseas in the worst case. I recon the main idea is to start forming some kind of escape plan which is what I was doing subconsciously for years. Once the ideas start taking root it might be possible :)

Looks like we might be getting an offer tomorrow which means we can start playing these poor suckers off against each other to squeeze as much as possible out of them...honestly who the hell would be buying a house with the market so crazy? Solicitors and the like apparently ha ha!

If there's one quote to remember it's:   "You have two lives; the second begins when you realize you only have one".     Good luck, and all the best.......JD

As much as I would like this to be a brave new start it's more self preservation lol I would even go as far to say it's accepting defeat but not in a bad way. I've come to the conclusion that the syst

This is the bit where I get called a weirdo lol

We got an offer yesterday it was a little cheaky so I'll be talking to the estate agent tomorrow. Let's use that as the base and see if people are willing to bid it up a little above the asking price ;) We're viewing our new hovel on Tuesday so it's all moving forward. We've popped by Cemeas every day since Friday so my daughter can play with the kids but the locals are a little elusive...probably because the beech is taken over by holiday makers at the moment.

You'll find that all over in the tourist hotspots mate, it's exactly the same in my area. It's good for those in the tourist trade but it's a pain in the arse for everyone else. Nicest times of the year are before the swarms turn up and after they bugger off home again! :D

Sod living opposite that, stick a pigs head up on the front Wall when you sold it.

I moved from native dorset to forest of Dean in 2004 ,as felt dorset was to overcrowded it as like going back to the 80-90s lol now I'm over the Wye in monmouth great walks ,wildlife but without 2 mile round trip for milk.

It takes some nerve to do it,but if you think it will improve yours or your children's lives then go for it.

Bloody tourists. There was about 6 cars in my town yesterday. Hope they bugger off soon.

If that's the worst thing that can happen I think I can handle it. There was an armed robbery where my parents live just the other day and someone up the road was broke into while he was asleep. All little reminders of why we're doing this :)

You're still a bloody tourist.. In 20 years you can call yourself a 'resident,' and in 100 years time any descendants you might leave in the area can start to think about calling themselves 'local' within the next few generations! :D

Fair play to you fella nothing worse than living in a shit hole me and my missus and 3 kids are moving next year . We love on a old miners estate at the moment and it's a dump. I have 3 drug dealers in my street and that's where my kids have to live and play so we're up sticks and moving . We're not going a million miles away just to market Drayton in Shropshire were most of my family live. Going find a nice quiet spot and start again. My kids also don't want to move but I can't stand by and whatch them grow up on this estate wher the only thing to do for kids is get pissed or smoking weed hanging around on street corners . Good luck to you and yours mate hope it all turns out exactly how you want it .... Atb

When we moved down here 24 years ago I asked an old boy in the pub how long it would be before we were accepted as locals?

His answer was, "We'll give it four generations boy, then we'll have a look"

:D

Cheers, D.

Navek I don't wish to piss on your strawberies but marketdrayton has the same problem with drugs has most small towns, over the last few years its be come a big salad growing area but poles do the work and the local young lads don't want the work happy to just get stoned, its a sad state of the times in most small towns.

We were looking at Shropshire for a few years when things were going well I probably still have a post somewhere on THE about it lol. I feel the same way as you, I can't sit back and see my daughter get influenced by kids from families I have zero respect for. To be honest where we live their are chavs etc but the middle class families are the worst because ether spoil their kids and give them loads of cash for nothing...the smart drug dealers get their hooks in to the kids with cash so how.dumb are those parents.

Hope it works out for you as well :)
