Phil Lloyd 10,739
Big shout out to fellow Hunting Life member, Flipper Al Long story short,....a few weeks ago,..my PC was hit with the infamous, Locky Ransomeware Virus.... Locky sounds to be a cheerful wee thing, but in reality,..it is the C*nt of C*nts... The ransomware encrypted an entire new book, plus 3000/4000 photos,...it was emotional... I am no Ernest Hemingway when it comes to the writing game,..but I try... Should I have backed everything up,...yes in hindsight,..of course I should,..but in reality, I didn't.. So,.I was left pretty well cleaned out,...everything gone,...no chance of getting my work back,...none at all.. Obviously, I contacted canny folk throughout the World,...and even the FBI said,.."Sir,..you are fecked, and we do mean, proper fecked". Then I found a memory stick,...it was a sad lonely, pathetic thing,..rather like myself,... Everyone said it has been wiped clean,.. there is nothing on it,.it is an empty vessel.... Flipper Al disagreed... Within 5 minutes, he had recovered enough text to give me some hope,...only my rough notes and initial ramblings,..and obviously no images,..but enough words, to encourage me to start writing again.... My sincere thanks to Flipper Al,....your professionalism, skill and kindness will not be forgotten... Edited June 19, 2016 by Phil Lloyd

skycat 6,174
So glad for you Phil. Al came to my aid too a few weeks ago. What a totally top bloke he is. We live in this strange unreal cyber world where we can accept (and give) help to people we have never met. For someone of my age this is a somewhat weird situation, brought up as I was in a world where friends were people you actually knew in the flesh. But I guess it's never too late to learn new things. Like guns, the internet is only as bad or as good as the one wielding the computer.
