It lowers cholesterol, or rather it raises your good cholesterol. It's great for skin and hair, digestive health as you say, it can assist with weight loss as part of a decent diet plan and can improve the immune system as well as being great for the major organs.

I have a tablespoon in my coffee instead of milk every morning as a way of getting my good fats when I'm training.

I think you can get it from most supermarkets now but my Mrs got mine online from holland and Barrett they had a offer on... The description oil is a bit misleading as it's solid at room temperature it's more of a lard in texture terms.

Make sure it's the organic virgin stuff Ray. Holland and Barrett sometimes have it on for a tenner but second jar is a penny so works out okay.

Yeah spot on.. The refined processed coconut oil is no good for you whatsoever... Its gotta be virgin

I read an article a few months ago to do with some new research about fats,it went into detail about how it's the instability of the fat that makes it bad for you.

So lard isn't as bad as people think, but cooked oil of any type is much worse especially if cooked more than once (I'm hoping someone who actually knows about this will chime in and fill in the blanks).

I've taken coconut oil for years with coffee or in rice etc,but if it's kept outside of the fridge in summer,it constantly changes from liquid to solid.

I just wonder if that has any effect?
