morton 5,369
Barry Hines, who wrote the book 'A Kestrel for a Knave', which was the basis for Ken Loach's 'Kes', has died. I first saw the film probably late 70's as a young lad and it fired a fascination and love for the Kestrel and raptors in general that I still have today. Thanks for that Mr Hines - and RIP My all time favourite film,it was more of a documentary on the life we grew up in than a film, well some of us 60,s children.

tatsblisters 10,941
He also wrote The Gamekeeper which was brought to film, again by Loach. I loved it as a kid and bought the book, read it till it fell apart. Baised on one of his best mates who was a gamekeeper from the same area.
