Snow Plough Question.

Recommended Posts

How does the driver know how high to adjust the plough? It's got to be low enough to take off the snow but not scrape the road.Roads vary in their flatness. How do you stop taking off lumps of tarmac? :hmm:

Isn't there a thick soft rubber strip on the end of the blade? Or like paulus said sensors

Yes. Rubber blade and stabilising wheels. No sensors.

even tractors and power ploughs use sensors and satellite positioning to map the field and store all the information via an on board computer. so the next time its done they lay of the land is already stored and the depth ect is done via the GPS and stored info.

I've worked on plenty of snow ploughs , they drop them down onto rollers , the rubber strip is to take into account any imperfections in the road surface

I will get a pic of the ploughs we use and of the ex council fleet gritters we've converted. No sensors.

Typical 3 point linkage with stabilisers and hydraulic lift. Dolly wheels so the plough don't rock and shake itself to bits.

On board computers. GPS!! FFS were in Yorkshire man!!
