Having seen one work first hand, I disagree with the lads saying they are just another bull cross.

 

But maybe they've seen crap alaunts (or not seen one at all, as is usually the case on here), Or maybe I've just seen bad bull crosses. Who knows.

 

But they were bred for a job, and whereas some bull crosses can make a versatile runner. The alaunt is no running dog.

 

Also an impressive deterrent about the house with an immense guarding instinct.

 

Different dogs for different folk I suppose.

Gaz you must have seen shit bullx, cos they can do all an aluant can and more. Aluant might be a bit bigger with more power to finish job quicker but a bullx can do same job and some a them racy halfxs can run like an aluant can only dream of, I not slating or putting them down just my thoughts

You've sort of contradicted yourself there though. First you said the bull cross can do all that the Alaunt can do and better. Then you said the Alaunt might do the job quicker?

 

If it's slower then it ain't the same job in my book.

 

A bit like the lads saying beddy whippets can bush the same as little terriers. The end result might be the same but if it's taken twice as long, then it's not the same job. But each to their own.

No one can judge a type of dog on only seeing a hand full of said x...be silly to compare to be honest.. A real good bull x will take all game well.from a bunny to fox deer and everything else in between.. Same as a aluant..I would think..one good dog don't make a breed ..or f**k a breed.some are great some are not..that's In all xs...
