Ope this don't come across the wrong way and we all know there's always a risk of injury to any dog thats worked hard but is the line you use not injury prone just there certainly seems to be a fair bit of injury's mentioned on this topic, just an observation, have you not considered adding something abit more durable..

Good luck with your search,,,,it's good to know what you want,,,,   But I will say this ,,I think it's a bit much that you want to tell the owner of the bitch,,,,to only keep 6 pups on,,,I would tel

His great grandmother ventured forth with me on a tatty picking trip into South Wales, when tatties were £2 a sack picked,i spent a while in romany company and getting £7 a week extra on the dole becau

get straws and then you can wait till the right bitch comes along.

I wouldn't call this a line ....imo a line takes years of selective and close breeding to produce dogs similar in type physically and mentally .....this is just a mish mash of lurchers who have decent blood and breeding behind them owned by lads who have been around the game for a long time and give there dogs plenty and second best won't do .....Morton has already lost 2 out of this litter in the field and he obviously sees something he likes in his dog and wants a decent bitch to attempt to carry these trates forward .

Yep, i'd do as has been said, i'd take straws and give yourself a much bigger time frame. It'd also allow you to give the dog as much graft as you want, without the worry of loosing him.

The value of keeping sound bitches must never be underestimated when trying to keep a family or line of dogs and i know this from first hand expierience.

Best of luck with your quest Morton. ;)

Ive seldom retired a lurcher due to old age,the majority of mine have still hunted into at least their 5th season and much more, the recent mis-fortunes ive encountered have been the type which we seldom encounter, sods law,a Duracel battery would have been less durable in these isolated instances.Im thinking of putting the dog over an Eiderdown and the ones i keep will never get out of their bed,the way my lucks running at the moment a bed bug will throttle them.

"second best won,t do" hits the nail on the head Mik,im not for one moment trying to get across to anybody that this is the best stud or working breeding in the land, that would be naive and egoistic, yet its honest and i want a pup from this dog,i rate him from what he as shown in his first season,i don,t believe a dog as ever impressed me as much so soon,as im easily impressed that may not account for much. Its about what was written on the tin with his parents,i want another tin of that.
