shepp 2,285
I wondered if there are any parts of the U.K. that are free from sub zero temperatures? I hear the West Country had the highest average temperatures. It so it must make a lot of difference as to when you can plant seeds etc.

Paulnix 426
We had maybe 3 or 4 mornings with frost so far to ice up a windscreen, not enough to put ice on drinking troughs more than once, this is on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall.

robbo 874
I live up near padstow and it was a good frost this morning but its only the second time ive had to scrape the windscreen this year. I had an allotment in yorkshire and was always wary of planting anything much before april just in case of frost or even snow. In my allotment down here i can plant stuff a minimum of a month earlier. I am going to experiment putting some stuff in really early this year and see what happens. Malt 379
Not many frosts here in the extreme SW of Wales on the coast We got the Gulf Stream moderating any cold weather here, hence we get the earliest crop of new spuds anywhere on the mainland. If you start moving away from the coast you'll inevitably start getting more colder weather and harder frosts.
shepp 2,285
Here in Surrey we've had about 7 frosts and water on the ground started freezing last night at 7.
Malt 379
Had a ship inspector based in London in the car night before last, he kept remarking how much warmer it was here than up in London every time he got out of the car.
