chrismdd 787
With the awful weather we've had recently round here there have not been many trips out and with the lack of crops cut the pigeons are still on hold. So taking note of Villaman's recommendation of using AA Express pellets in .177 I ordered a tin off the web and when they arrived started putting them through their paces. Straight away I compared them to my current AA Fields and needed to adjust zero slightly at 30 yards and then noticed the groupings were considerably tighter. Shooting a full mag of each I was getting all pellet touching groups with no flyers with the Express's compared to the Fields. So this evening after two days of rain the sun came out and time to check out their hitting power. With the sodden ground I opted for the chair and shooting sticks this time and decided to go for a bunch of rabbits that had taken up residence in the relative safety of the middle of the top hedge, I have already thinned out those from each of the corners. So set up my ambush together with a 30 yd marker to fine tune my zero before they were due to pop out: All was well, the wind died and warm sun on my back made for a pleasant start but then the neighbour across the road decided it was also a nice evening to mow their lawns and see to the horses. Well patience is a virtue and I had to wait over an hour and a half before rabbits started appearing further up the field. Then the lawnmower was put away and all was silent to the extent that I could hear the swishing of swallows as they skimmed pass me barely three feet above the grass as the midges dropped down. Then came the distinctive thumping of rabbits feet in their burrows to signal their arrival. Getting the S410 up ready a minute passed then two nice adult rabbits bounded out at 25 yds. Looking through the scope they were completely oblivious of my presence as they preceeded to get jiggy-jiggy, just as the buck was about to mount one of the new Express pellets put an end to his romantic streak and he dropped without a flinch. The doe ran back to the hedge but stopped just short, taking my time I pulled back the bolt and carefully reloaded before sending the second express on its way to produce the same result. Both rabbits showed that these pellets have the hitting power so more testing will be undertaken. The light was fading rapidly so a little walk around was in order but apart from seeing two more out they did not present a decent shot so they can wait for another day. Returning to my chair and packing away eight duck flew over in shotgun range, every time I've shot up here duck have always flown over so maybe something to consider when they are in season. 7 Quote Link to post

chrismdd 787
Nice shooting Chriss, I thought your 410 was in ,22 or have you one in both camps. Just the .177. I do have an old FWB Sport 127 in .22 but that doesn't get any use at the moment. I've had the S410 for about 18 months my first pcp. It's pre AT came with four ten shot mags plus a bottle connector and gauge although I use an FX pump. Cost me £275 and apart from one hiccup when it vented all it's air it has been a great gun.
