I Need Some Rabbits Taken Care Of

Recommended Posts

hi there,

i'm new on here so her goes,

i have 5 horses 2 of which are babies on about 4/5 acres of rented land, but i have increasing numbers of none rent paying rabbits, now they are digging holes right in middle of fields, i've fallen down a couple and i dont want the horses doing the same. the land owner gave permission to a lovely bloke who is respectful of the horses etc so no complaints there, however whenever i bump into him he never has any rabbits to show for it and i have discovered his hide and a home made bird table so it looks like he is shooting pigeon and squirrel rather than rabbit, on top of this i keep finding dead birds lying around which in its self doesn't bother me but i do have 2 young kids so although i dont hide things from them its hard to explain this and a terrier who insists on rolling on them. the dog used to catch the rabbits but she seems to have hung up her collar and retired.

i'm open to someone coming to shoot, i will even bring the horses in barn out of way one night if i know your definately coming, but what i dont want is dogs etc running round my horses. i dont mind if you want to ferret the fields as i know thats pretty effective, but the field is next to a fairly busy road so thats up to you.

i would prefer references if possible, only as the last place i was on let some real young kids ferret with dogs too with out my say so, the dogs run my horses, and not long after i had all my belongings pinched, maybe just coincidence but it did make me very wary!

anyway if any one is interested please contact me

cheers cat

if you don't want lurchers on there , its either ferreting or somebody to shoot them, but not all farmers or landowners like guns on there property's . if you was going to put the horses up for the night anyway , a lurcher could do the job as well . just a thought .

hi to you all,

so many of you replied to me, and thank you so much, i now have someone coming to see me about it this weekend, but if for what ever reason they dont turn up or change their minds i will be back again.

ps thanks to those who suggested doing it my self, lol at one point i would have done (and have) but these days between, 2 young kids, horses, and other home life i dont get chance to do much else, so i thought it would be nice to offer it to someone else as i know from previous expeirence how hard it can be to gain permission and trust to land even when your genuine and trustworthy, i been both sides of fence on this one, in my younger days getting permisson and now later in life finding it harder to trust after someone broke it.

its not fair that the odd few out there do so much damage that it spoils it for others is it, its the same with off roading, as my hubby is a genuine off roader and respects the land and people on it etc but again there are the few that tear the place up and get them all a bad name

anyway enough rambling on

thanks again and enjoy your shooting

cath x
