Popular Post jigsaw 11,809
After weeks of motor problems, ive at last got myself back on the road not having to be ducking and diving and avoiding the long and very reaching arm of the law,I had problems with the van and body rust, very sever rusting I might add and a few niggly mechanical problems, but all sorted now so first chance I got I headed out to get a kid goat or two if possible for the table.I reached the yard just before 8 a.m.and no sign of the farmer I headed off into the countryside that has become my own private amusement arcade,I took the easy route at first and up the paths along the side of the fields, theres 3 field here before you get to the top and then a forestry block in front and its either off to the left for a heather filled hillside or turn right into the rocky ridges and peaty rushy forestry strewn area that seems to attract the goats more than any other area. There are 2 lanes that connect the 3 fields together and just coming out of the 2cd lane I spotted a dog fox,,sneaking along the ditch.William told me a few weeks ago that a fox was harassing his cats around the yad and to give any I saw a shot if the oppertunity arose,so this poor fukker was getting the blame for every wrongdoing that every other fox in the area had done, life is unfair at times but shit happens. I sat Taz and lied down and stuck the hairs on his shoulder and dropped him where stood.I sent Taz on and she shook the shit out of him, shes deadly at finishing off, finished off foxes lol.Shes never had a live one so God only knows what might happen if she ever encounters one. Taz murdering the dead fox We headed up onto the ridges and scanned far and wide in the hope of seeing dinner .lol....I went up as far as the first screen of forestry and walked along the length of it ,there were signs the mob had been about not too long ago so I continued and came to a spot that has many peaty mounds,The walking goes up hill and down dale literally,After 4 or 5 of these covered I was climbing up the next one when right in front of my eyes at the top was a couple of heads, staring straight at me.I god dam walked straight into them. The few billys that saw me just stood watching,me being like a statue just froze.I slowly put the hand in my pocket and gently gt the camera out and started snapping away. All the while the billys didnt budge, they just stood and stared, this i must tell you went on for a good 5 minutes.I waited for them to wanderd off unfazed, and hopefully not worried about my presence. They eventually dissapeared over the ridge and out of sight.I kept Taz close to me and quietly crawled to the top. They had surprisingly travelled a far distance to my left, back the way I had just travelled,so I retraced my steps and legged it as fast as I safely could and try get ahead of them. When i had judged I was after passing them out I tried to slink my way out in front of them and happily enough I was 25-30 yards in front.I tucked the dog in tight to me and ordered her to stay.I set the gun up and picked out a nice kid for the table.I pulled the trigger and it fell where it stood. The herd then panicked and ran towards me,which was great. They still had me situated behind them I suppose ,I then shouted and they all stopped dead only feet away from me.I showed myself and they turned and ran in the opposite direction, passing their fallen comrad as they went.I knew they would slow at some point and most times they stop to have a look. That was what I was waiting for. Before they did I had the gun trained on the next kid I wanted and just for a moment they stopped, turned back to take a look and access the situatio, which gave me the shot I needed.I had my quota and the day was over as far as the meat collecting was concerned my dinner for the next while. I think theyve seen me lol the ground I was on this morn. its bad enough I took his life, but I took his tail as well I had the joyus honour of gutting them then and dragging the 2 back to the van, that took just over an hour.the landowners were please with my attempts and Im due back out there again next Sunday to look at another mob I had not previously know existed,Lets hope theres a few nice fat kids in that bunch too(jesus that does sound wrong lol)

jigsaw 11,809
thanks folks,I have to say in 6 years thats the 3rd fox ive shot and it never sits well with me.After I shot it yesterday I thought''what a waste''.The landowners are always saying if I see a red fellow to drop him where he stands as theres massive sheep country there..If you cant eat it then why shoot it.There are other more enjoyable ways of dealing with them. The countryside I do is not open to hounds due to the massive forestry blocks.Hounds would never bee seen again and due to hill sheep all over the area. The demon is sorting out the cooking of the kid goat so looking forward to that.
