Operation Goat Is Back On Again

Recommended Posts

went for a walk today after a call out from the farmer friend,30 goats in his land, down low due to the snow and cold I believe.I picked a hell of a morning to travel, half way there 4 cars stuck in the ditch, police all over the shop and heres me with no tax or road test on the van,ffs

luckily they just waved me on and i exhailed with relief.Reached the yard and william was there waiting for me,He came to me in a bit of a hurry so I knew he had something to tell me of iminent importance,I slipped on my boots, got the gun out of the case, released the kelpie from the rear of the van and he said the words I love to hear......''THEM FUCKERS ARE ACROSS THE ROAD IN MY GRAZING FOELD'' .He walked with me and up the path and there they were, having breakfast at his expense.I had no intentions of shooting any but when he was with me I was forced to take one out,and any one at random.I said Id creep up into the adjacent field and work my way down the hedging near to the mob.I was within 20 yards and I sat the kelpie and moved closer alone,I looked back and william was keeping a close eye on proceedings. There was no way out of this one,a goat had to die today lol.I picked out the darker goat and lifted te 223,squeezed the trigger and the shot went off,but so did the goats.....at full speed.I called the dog and followed in the direction to where tey ran and just inside the wood was my appointed goat, lifeless and waiting.I dragged it back into the field, looked over and william gave me the thumbs up,happy as only a farmer with goat problems can be

Jigsaw, you should definitely consider sending off a full write up of one of your "goating" exploits to EDRD. Brilliant read!

Unfortunately jiggy won't be able to comment further...   He's in government quarantine! Watch the news for further developments.   LOL LOL

Then we crept up to a pair of billys fighting and trying to mate with a nanny that has a tiny kid allready at foot, never knew that went on but hey, what the hell do i know, other than how to shoot em,lol

and for good measure heres a clip from the saturday past,I climbed a hill looking for a different bunch and just as I got to the top it absolutely went mental with wind and rain/sleet.

This morning it went from snow to heavy sleet to sunshine, weird weather up this way

their numbers are seriously diminished as the forestry board shot over 40 of them in a week, the cnuts were ''thining out the numbers'' for the sake of the young trees.I offered to do it last season but they prefered to get a hired gun in and pay him to try wipe em out.I want to let them alone this year now and next year should be up a bit better and more sustainable. And as for the land, its bloody hard work when you go over the 50 years old mark lol.
