They open up the political spectrum and have people talking, questioning things, taking an interest. In fact I'd say they have been instrumental in getting a lot of disillusioned people off their arse taking an interest in what's going on and perhaps even voting. If they do nothing else as a party apart from keeping the lab/lib/cons on the backfoot and cause them sleepless nights then we need them. Dont worry im not saying we've got it as bad as sharia law lol. Its just like posted above the media have probably the greatest power. Those at the top are in bed no doubt with certain people in the media and will have stuff shown to draw people one way. Thing that also makes me think we don't have democracy is how parties change. They don't just say what they think is best for us and back it up with reason and are able to debate others why their way is better. Instead they change to suit what they think we want. I know the aim of the game is to get votes but the way ukip had other parties banging on about eu and immigration was a joke. Anyway truth be told the more i read about the bullshit those at the top get away with i don't really give alot of shit for politics and doubt anything will change.
