secretagentmole 1,701
As I have done many years ago I went to the deadstock sale in Swaffham. This year the idea was to get A goose that is A, one singular. Well the best laid plains and all that. Bought the first goose at the top of the sale (close to the start). £25 saw a 14 and a half pound goose in the bag. Stayed through the sale. tried to pick up a few more geese as they came up, but I thought they were too much (people had woken up perhaps). Some cockerels came up and I picked up a 10lb cockerel for a tenner (that was a present for a neighbour - they clean their own birds too so lucky for me). Towards the tail of the sale I picked up a 10 and three quarter pound goose for £14 then the prices fell through the floor, a 30lb turkey fetched £14! The next one up was a 27 and three quarter pound. The auctioneer was going to knock it down for a tenner but I bid £12. Won that lot. So for £61 I got two geese, a cockerel and a humungous turkey! All rough plucked. Drawn the three birds we are keeping and dropped off the neighbours present!
