desertbred 5,490
the tubular green house heaters are cheap on ebay ,water proof generate some heat a 65 watt one costs the same to run as a 65 watt light bulb so cheap on the bills if you screw it under the bed just put a piece of chicken mesh over it, they are metal encased just keep the flex out of the way or run it through 15mm copper pipe and clip it to the underside of the bed Edited November 19, 2014 by desertbred 3 Quote Link to post

nothernlite 18,260
Would kingspan under the bed not be enough and a tube heater in the kennel to take chill out the air WHEN it's cold as in minus Edited November 19, 2014 by nothernlite 2 Quote Link to post
big napper 3,647
used heat mats for the past 4 years and there spot on, i put a piece of thin plywood sheet over it to stop dogs scratching it, its waterproof and it switches itself on and off and cost peanuts to run, got mine from a pet shop it cost about £20. 4 years ago, you can get them on ebay 1 Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
I prefer to use a heat lamp as with a tube heater the bottom of the bed only is warmed up but a heat lamp above the dog spreads the heat out further and covers more of an area keeping the dog warmer ........ 2 Quote Link to post

flipbull 1,139
Seen dog heating blankets in home and bargain for £5. Dont know if there any good though? Quote Link to post
desertbred 5,490
heat rises though a timber bed is not a good conductor of heat once it heats the heat permeates all round a lot cheaper than heat lamps to run and lasts for years. I use tubular heaters when the frost starts on a timer , the slightly more expensive ones have a frost detector that automatically puts them on at a specific tempreture I hve the same ones for the last 5 years Edited November 19, 2014 by desertbred 2 Quote Link to post
