Coursing mad 24 874
Has anyone worked one of these Norfolk type lurchers or had any experience with them . Considering they were bred in an area with a high population of hares . Has anyone seen one do the job on the long ears ? Any info on the breeding behind them ? Atb Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
The name referes to a 'type' rather than any breeds or lines BUT there were lines about, the most famous being Mick Douglases stuff. I knew of the type to be big rangy long coated dogs, usually fawn (honey) coloured. The ones i've seen could certainly kill a hare or two but sadly thier number was up when the desert dogs came to town. I'd bet if you looked hard enough someone somewhere has got stuff that goes right back...? Quote Link to post

shaaark 11,694
Had a pup in 80's bred from one of douglas's line ( supposedly ), put to a smooth black bitch of hancock's early border/beardiex greys, then put back to another douglas type. Sire was a rough light brindle dog at 26 1/2" and was used more for deer than anything else, but could certainly catch more than a few hares day and night. My pup which I called 'steel' was shaping up very nice, when I let her into the garden for 10 mins, and some c**t did actually 'steal' her! After that, have never left a dog of mine outside without watching it! Quote Link to post
CRAZYHORSE 2,647
I think my dog is a Norfolk lurcher, every time I slip him on a hare he has got norfolking chance of catching it 13 Quote Link to post
