gamerooster 1,179
How do they know its poachers? Always make me laugh when they instantly assume this
norseman 424
theres plenty of buck ejits with guns about, know a man on one of my permissions who had his window blasted by a shotgun, the f***ing cowbay was only yards from his house, in a field and on the other side of the hedge though so i guess that made it ok
jack lee 137
How do they know its poachers? Always make me laugh when they instantly assume this good point there mate, only person that was killed some time ago was from a legal deer shooter,he shot by mistake some lad walking, mistaken him for a deer moving through some brush,it was in the papers but got covered up very quick indeed
coverdogs 888
http://donegalnews.com/2014/09/houses-and-livestock-shot-at-by-deer-poachers/ the shit is building up slowly, due to some bunch of langers with no idea as to what their doing.Of course the rest of us will suffer thanks to them I was listening to highland radio this morning they were talking about it a guy from glenfinn estate was on, he was suggesting that it was poachers from northern ireland that was responsible and the local sergeant was saying that there were gangs from as far away as cork poaching in donegal. . sussex 5,803
It said they were being shot at night ...cant think that's legal .Even if they had the guns legal shooting them at night is still poaching.
jigsaw 11,902
well,if someones pet/livestock is shot, their house is shot by night i would assume also its a few idiots with intent on sneaking a bit of meat out through the dead of night, hence poaching as its not legal to take anything other than vermin by dark. coverdogs, cork folk taking game en mass ................never ,we dont do anything like that
gamerooster 1,179
You reckon? Ive heard of plenty of keepers and forestry rangers taking deer out at night, just because there easier than sitting in a high seat or stalking, such as when they have to fill a quota
neil cooney 10,416
I blame the game dealers. The market for No Questions asked venison has exploded and it's bringing out the cowboys. Lads who a couple of years ago didn't know a red squirrel from a red stag are now getting swifts or .223s etc. and shooting deer where ever they are. Where these cowboys go the Wildlife Rangers are not far behind and it's ruining it for the lads who've hunted the area all their lives. There's even a cowboy advertising "stalking" on the net and is bringing out customers on land he has no permission on. He's had the shite kicked out of him at least twice by the locals. The last red stag I butchered (legally shot) had buck shot in it's chest and the stag before that had .22 bullets in it. That's just way out of order on a beast of between 20 and 25 stone weight. There's a massive stag lying in a field about 2 mile from my house at the minute with just it's head removed. Whoever did that needs castrating.
RemyBolt 420
To be fair, in my experience, a small deer and a hefting bull cow, or even sheep do look very similar. Hell, I once even shot a house mistaking it for a deer, when I was over in.....urm......I mean.... I don't know what you're talking about. Joking aside, if you can't get a clean kill, don't take the shot! I guess, by definition of poaching, they would be considered poachers. However, they're just not very good at it. Really hope it doesn't ruin anything for those of us that take shooting more seriously. Edited October 1, 2014 by RemyBolt
