saw this on face book.the training gone into this dog must have taken months if not longer, superb control and obedience.

The only individuals of this breed i find ugly are those that have been ruined for the show bench. A genuine game bred bulldog to me is the finest looking canine going...handsome is s handsome does...

You can train them to a high standard given the time and effort http://youtu.be/OW1eQE4kWFM

impressive what you can do with a prong collar, and a shock collar! make no wonder the dogs on edge

yeh maybe so , but pits are intelligent dogs , and can take to training just like any dog can, and a lot have sensitive nature a e/collar could fook them up totally

I would like to take this opportunity to stand up for electric, and prong collars. But the handler seemed to have to prong collar attached to a leash which was dangling. This would give corrections to the dog for no reason. Then using two seperate forms of correction at the same time seems a little odd as well. But then again, like someone mentioned alot of police dogs do not handle as well.

Nice vid jigsaw!

My thoughts exactly. That dog when on the sleeve always seemed to be expecting an "off"command. I have no issue with the use of either collar type used correctly, but both together with a trailing lead is, in my mind not good practice. I'm not knocking a well tained dog, just questioning hows its been achieved and the results when it REALLY matters

Anticipating commands might just mean training was too predicable. At least the dogs smart enough to recognize patterns.

There was a mag about yrs ago, (maybe still is?) called "combat and survival. only bought it once as it had an article on the us army trying out A.P.B.T's as attack dogs, they gave up after a good few months of trying as they found, whilst very good at the attack side of things, the control they had over them was a bit hit and miss when the blood was up, so to speak. they would hit anywhere and release when THEY thought it was over...maybe why that fella has all the bells and whistles around that bitches neck?...very impressive tho...

funny you say that, regards man work, because bel mals very full on dogs, that are at times hard to control .So a well bred apbt that more drive in it would be a fookin nightmare to hold back if liked this kind of thing s they hit anywhere even the face lol, prob why the army +police prefer gsd' for the above jobs, with there easier temps to control .

Seemingly pit bulls are banned from all U,S army bases now, im sure I read that somewhere. Sergeant stubby got medals for saving American soldiers from gas attacks and even catching a German spy. Shame their reputation has been ruined by half wits, the only dodgy pitbulls I ever came across their owners were even dodgier, either drug dealers gangsters or absolute dopes, saw plenty nice ones.

PBTs are the preferred guard dog for crack houses over here. That's a reputation thats hard to live down.

I think one of the problems with the English Bull Terriers that were being trained for protection work in Germany (Rudolf Severin's?) was that they were very hard to out.

Above dogs are legendary but there no virgil or iron kid

A PIT BULL AT IT'S BEST!

I was surprised at how quiet the whole thing was. It is something I have read about in books, but similar films from the US seem to be very noisy, with people banging on the walls, shouting and the dogs making noise as well...

Never really been impressed with all that stuff you could make almost any dog do almost any thing with the right bond and the right connection a pit bull is just as trainable as any other breed its just that due to the nature of the breed they get pushed in the direction of all the action man type stuff i personally think its harder than a lot of folk believe to get a dog to bite a human beings skin training or no training......things like this become a game if the dog really thought it was in any real danger you might see a very different reaction it all looks impressive in a controlled environment but in a real situation of danger a well bred American Pit Bull Terrier is the last type of dog i would want around.

same thing happened over here for awhile tho, hence the SDJ stopped recognizing english dogs. people sending in spurious reports, making dogs into ch/ gr ch with no merit. helped them get a few stud fee from the pit bull news... ;)

Thats the trouble when something is easily replaced aint it......where some folk will pick up and breed off it they were just replacing like for like with a shrug of the shoulders and a " whats the big deal " attitude........which when you have local village plod referreeing is an easy view to have ...... funny bunch though and probably good for the breed long term.
