keepdiggin 9,565
Who would start him the world cup? I'm not sold on him myself and never have been I don't think he's filled his potential. Rickie Lambert looks a good buy for Liverpool.

Rickie Lambert looks a good buy for Liverpool. I think he hit 20's and not over improved but milner, g Johnson , fook knows why they keep picking these 2 , there very poor at this level . from watching the team so far, not sure if we will even make the 1/4s be home early I reckon. And our English players going to carried along in the premiership with the foreign players as normal when you take the foreign players away this is what your left with I am afraid to say

gnasher16 31,602
He,s got to be given the chance................but when the game hits the hour mark he,s the first change id be looking to make...............tournament football is full of " what if,s "..........if he doesnt start a game and we go out in the group stage people will be asking why we didnt play our top goalscorer.......a player with the sort of ability to change games has to be given the chance to do so in my opinion. keepdiggin 9,565
I agree with what your so saying however I find it refreshing that for this world cup we are not pinning all our hopes and dreams on Rooney like most of us did in south Africa. Cant wait for the tournament to start now.
gnasher16 31,602
I dont expect us to get out the group, theres no real reason to think we should...............but like you say the simple lowering of our expectations as a nation i think gives us a fair chance of doing ok................our media have been a national disgrace over the years i dont think they,ll get away with what they have before and that in itself bodes well.
the_stig 6,614
this could just be the tournament rooney comes good be his last crack at a world cup ? same as some of the other older players they might just play out there skins we can hope

philstory 83
Johnson plays right back because he is best right back in the squad. I'm not saying he is a good defender. As for rooney he starts for me. I think he's desperate to play well in this tournament.if he isn't cutting the mustard get him off and give young lads a go either sterling or barkley
Lab 10,979
Surely it goes on your form this season. Correct me if I'm wrong he's not really played the out and out striker role this season so should he start in that position if Roy wants to play 2 strikers?? Same with Gerrard......an excellent season playing as a holding midfielder not as an attacking one.....so which role will Roy ask him to play? I reckon you will do a lot better if you play players in the positions they have excelled in at there clubs this season and not on 'who you are'. Infact I hope you play Rooney in goals and get pumped every game....lol
twobob 1,519
yes and milner can actualy cross a ball but dont get much chance because hes doing johnsons defending
baz 464
Whole team lacks stamina, not bad last night for 60 mins then fade away, I'm guessing Brazil will be pretty hot when they play,,so will drain them even more... Like that Barkley lad mind, and fancy sturridge to get a few if chance arises, on the whole tho no great expectations
TUFFTY 1,484
I think that they should start with same side they had against Peru But Play sterling instead of welbeck. If Rooney cant get in the game replace him with barkley.
