Blackbriar 8,569
My Dad was a good, self-taught guitar player. He tried for ages to teach me, but I just couldn't get the hang of it. Only much later in life did it dawn that this was because he was right-handed and I'm left- handed ! At a bit of a tangent, but my Dad told me this true story................ In the late '50s he and his twin brother sang as a vocal/guitar duet. (Think Everley Brothers and you'll have an image). They must have looked pretty cool in their sharp suits and quiff hair-do's.......... Anyway, one night at a working men's club, they're approached by a chap from a record company, who offered them an audition. He gives them his card and says 'Come to my office next week'. Excited as f**k, the twins go home and tell their Mum (my Nan, bless her). She asks to see the business card and sees, to her horror, that the office is in London ! She tells them they can't possibly go alone (they're 18/19 years old FFS! ) and suggests that their Dad (my grandad) could maybe take a day off work to accompany them. Grandad looks over the top of his paper and says "You needn't think I'm losing over a quid, so these two can go gallavanting down that London !" Played for almost 30 years and been in bands most my adult life used to be quite serious gigging all over the UK but still great fun, now I just get together with some old pals once every month and play covers and drink a few tins. Hendrix's big advantage other than his amazing natural talent was because his hands were so big it enabled him to stretch across the frets much easier than somone ith smaller hands

NEWKID 28,505
Play a bit bird, been in bands for years and had a right laugh doing it, Some decent gigs too.. The lad who played lead guitar in our band for years was really good, playing in a mess about band at the minute with a few mates, one of the lads in it plays pretty much anything, in the band hes playing banjo, ukele, mouth organ and a melodica in different songs, he pisses me off he's that talented... Brother plays the bass in it, we'll do a few pub gigs with this band in the summer..
