Outlaw Pete 2,224
Love the sound of them Sound of them nearly drove me over the f**king edge, when I was doing summer time pest control, ferreting on the southern downs! Now? Here? They're lost to us. I'd Love to hear one again!

fireman 11,389
Whats makes them a challange JD? and a couple of lovely looking birds indeed .
J Darcy 5,871
To start with, they're real nervous birds. they're not like your average hardbill, it takes a special sort of 'hammer to 'relax' in human company. They go down much later than the rest of the birds and with the guys I've spoken to, they all seem to think that they are not an easy bird to breed....I got lucky I guess...
francolin 449
what were they housed with ,J or are they kept in flights of there own, like these a lot atb.
J Darcy 5,871
They were in a large aviary with a stream running through it. In flights that were 8ftX 3 ft X 6ft. they need ground cover for nesting, but I have had them go down in nest baskets too, which is unusual. Lots and lots of livefood needed before they come into true condition.

neil cooney 10,416
I have the pleasure of watching 20 or 30 of them every morning feeding my fowl. I mix a soaked dog biscuit through the grain and it seems to be that they want. Beautiful birds. I never liked to see them in flights as they never seemed to show themselves but you JD seem to have the knack.
