Joe1888 672
How much do you lads charge for mole trapping how difficult is it to pick up? I'd like to add it to my pest control services. Willing to spend money on the right equipment and time mastering the art. Quote Link to post
Ratmanwan 66
Usually around £40-60 in a domestic lawn, £10 extra per mole if there's more than one on a big lawn or paddock. Took me a good few weeks to catch my first for a friend it's much easier if you can find someone to show you but you probably won't get to many takers. Quote Link to post
Mr Muddy 141
Domestic jobs is it? I charge 70 for the first mole, and I think that’s pretty cheap. I certainly can’t see how you could do the job for less than that. What to you mean by ‘pick-up’ learn it, or actually get jobs? Quote Link to post

MR TEA POT 1,287
I'd be a fly by night for £70 a mole ? daylight robbery ? 1 Quote Link to post
outandabout 27
£70 for a mole is cheap! Depends on the situation though. I work for a housing association who were quoted £1000+ for a year's mole control contract. I remove approx. 30 a year from there. I charge them a fair price that works for me, and saves them some money. It's nowhere near £1000 unfortunately. However, if an old dear round the corner needs some moles removed and it's within walking distance, then £70 is daylight robbery. Swings and roundabouts..... Mr Muddy 141
70 pounds for the two, maybe three domestic visits, by a professional, needed to catch a mole is very, very, very good value. If you disagree you’re wrong. If someone doesn’t have a spare 70 quid, I feel sorry for them, but I’m a business, not a charity, so they’ve got no right phoning me in the first place. 5 Quote Link to post

Mate, you just need to do your sums: If it takes you half an hour to get there from your last job, and you’ve got to do that twice, that’s one hour. Then explaining what you’re doing to the punter and setting your traps, that’s at least another 40 mins. When you come back it’s another 20 mins digging up your traps and writing the invoice. So that’s two hours work for 70 quid. Less a tenner for petrol and you’re only getting 30 an hour. If it takes you an extra visit to get the mole that’s only 20 an hour!!! Now, you tell me a self employed plumber or sparky who works for that! If it’s difficult for some folks to make ends meet it’s probably because they’re selling them selves short. FFS, have the self confidence to charge a decent rate for your time. Sorry Wilson2k; to answer your original question ‘how difficult is it to pick up’ If you mean catching moles: then, not especially, same as anything, the more you do, the better you get. If you mean how difficult is it to pick up molecatching work: then the answer is nigh-on f*****g imposable for a new start-up (there are hundreds & hundreds of you out there at the moment). I wouldn’t bother if I were you. 8 Quote Link to post

outandabout 27
Mr. Tea Pot, the folks without enough money have the choice not to call a professional... They can put up with a mole problem, or try to catch it themselves. They either pay the price for a job, or don't. If they expect people to come and work for no profit, they'll be disappointed. Luckily most folks are happy to pay a reasonable fee for a good job. Then the nice mole catcher has enough money to stay in business, and be available when they need him. Quote Link to post
morton 5,369
If it took me 40 minutes to set a couple of traps for a domestic,id be embarrassed, especially if I was then to ask £70.Each to their own greed I suppose?.I can walk down the highstreet and buy a bed for £500,i can walk a little further and source the exact same bed for £350,work it out?. DIDO.1 22,862
theres catching the odd moles for some extra cash under the tax mans radar and then there is making a living from pest control with insurance and over heads. The two things are not the same and have a different value. I can hang a door within an hour but if I had to do 2 possibly 3 visits to check all was well after then I sure as hell wouldnt do it for less than 70 so whats the difference. Cant understand those who want to de-value a trade. Catching A mole is easy but being able to catch all moles in any situation isnt when the mortgage needs paying.
