KittleRox 2,147
It seems the lads in Fife have a new breed of dog for bringing down the Deer, according to Spca the dogs are that powerful they crush the ribs when they capture said Deer, if you have such a dog give me a shout, I want to x it with me whippet http://www.thecourier.co.uk/news/local/fife/deer-hunted-down-for-illegal-fife-venison-doorstep-trade-1.228849
RossM 8,149
They don't half talk some shite. Although landowners are obligated to control deer numbers, the methods used by poachers are particularly brutal, offering little hope of survival for the deer. Bar the pish about brutality Is that not the point?
JDHUNTING 1,817
He also states they have little evidence apart from claims from landowners of a drop in deer numbers and there now looking for people walking in fields with greyhounds.

Crocodile/Hyena crosses maybe? Seriously though, I know that coppers are some of the worst lying toerags around but this is a bit beyond the pale. PC Ian Laing is attributed to have made a number of statements in this article, I can't see that there's much substance to any of them and I’m afraid that all this article seeks to do is demonise anyone with a greyhound (or animal that looks like one). Some of my issues with the article; “It’s difficult to say numbers because sometimes the entire carcase is taken and there is no trace a crime has taken place,” Mr Laing said. “But what we do have is anecdotal evidence from landowners who are saying there is a drop in deer numbers.” This is absolute crap, no other word for it. No evidence of a crime other than “anecdotal evidence from landowners” that deer numbers are down! No body - no crime. I drive through Fife & all over Angus & the North East of Scotland regularly and have never seen Roe deer in such high numbers. I remember the days when you’d have stopped the car to look at a deer. Last night whilst walking the dog, I saw 6 on the playing fields opposite my house, and recently they’ve been coming into the housing estate & feeding in gardens. If anything they need a cull to maintain a healthy & sensible population. “We’re also finding that daytime is as common as night for this taking place. It’s not just weekends either — these people don’t work so they have all day to do it.” What fcuking people! If you know who they are prosecute them and report that. Apparently ‘they’ don’t work so they’ll be easy enough to find. “PC Ian Laing, the region’s wildlife crime officer, said trained dogs are used to chase and attack the animals before the bodies are removed and butchered, often in unsanitary conditions.” BUT “more often than not the perpetrators are long gone and the only evidence remaining is the injured or dead animal.” Can’t have it both ways, the thing either gets taken away and butchered for selling round the doors or it doesn’t. To my mind this is a wildlife crime officer (and I've no doubt PC Laing will read this and if you do, feel free to respond) trying to justify his existence, & maybe trying to protect his job which, given all the cutbacks may be under threat. The danger is that this is a grossly irresponsible and unfair way to go about doing either. With absolutely no evidence in this report, you've terrorised the public by implying that there are gangs of unemployed roaming the woods with packs of hounds with the bite strength of a Great White shark. The law is the law whether you agree with it or not. Break it and you should be prosecuted. Policemen & women are there to enforce the law, not to collaborate with hacks to construct emotive but baseless reports of barbaric mobs (unemployed or otherwise) roaming the countryside. To my mind, this is clearly designed to whip up anti hunting support, nothing more. Shame on you Mr Laing.
