The Loan Rangers.....

Recommended Posts

Not enough money to see out the season. Need to buy better players for next season. Will we ever see a strong rangers team again :hmm:

Rangers have confirmed to the Stock Exchange they are close to securing a loan of £1.5million from current investors in the club.

The Scottish League One leaders are reportedly going through around £700,000 a month in running costs and last December, chief executive Graham Wallace claimed their 'money could run out by April'.

Wallace is part way through a 120-day exercise in cutting costs at the club, but last month his plans were hit when Rangers' first-team squad members refused to take a 15 per cent cut in the salaries.

Now hedge-fund managers Laxey Partners and brothers Sandy Easdale - chairman of the club's football board - and James Easdale - a director of the PLC board - are stepping in with the 'crisis loan' which will be repaid in shares in the club some time next year.

The loan would allow Rangers to continue to meet their demands, on and off the pitch, until next year's season ticket renewal money starts rolling in towards the end of this season.

In a statement, the club said: "The Board of Rangers notes the press articles

(on Thursday) morning and confirms that it is holding discussions with two major shareholders with a view to arranging a loan of up to £1.5m to provide

working capital for the company.

"Documentation and terms have not been finalised, and a further announcement will be made when appropriate."

In December 2012, Rangers raised £22m when they floated on the Stock Market but by June of last year, when they announced 13-month losses of £14.4m, had gone through the bulk of it.

Max, any normal fans would help bale out their club but rangers fans are far from normal. They have a delusional belief that they and their club are better than everyone else. Their team runs out to the tune of simply the best..... Even in the third division  there fans sing we are the people  it's not entirely the fans fault they are deluded, they've been fed it from the media and their owners. Murray's famous quote of every fiver Celtic spend we will spend a tenner.... The media protray Celtic with comments like biscuit tin mentality and call us beggars. So you can see why the fans couldn't lower themselves to collect money to save the club. The clubs had share issues that flopped because the fans wouldn't help. That's why every crook in the land has been able to buy it. The fact they think they can shaft suppliers and the tax man and still exist as the same club shows their arrogance holds no bounds. They've known about the club not having enough money to last till April for 3 months now, plenty of time to raise the money. But you only need to look at the responses from rangers fans on here, even this thread and you realize they'd rather pretend it isn't happening than to admit the clubs f****d
