Born Hunter 17,843
A little terrier mix ... No reason why it couldn't flush a few pheasant out of cover and kill a few rats ........... Hardly asking much of it is he. LOL. It'll be fine for what the OP intends for it I'd imagine. I've seen dobermans and dalmations in various beating lines so why not, it'll be far more suited than either of them.

Look, obviously any dog can be worked to some level, I'm sure Fuji Pomeranian has flushed the odd critter too. My gran had a collie that caught rabbits as well. But incase you've forgot, this is a hunting site, that dogs no different than the other couple of hundred fad, cute, deliberate cross bred dogs on gumtree. All I'm sure will make excellent ratters pleeeeeease
forest of dean redneck 11,926
Only thing I was going to say is for 400 quid you could got a working spaniel pup that was practically bred for working feather and probably would shown interest in ratting etc.

STRANGER 948
Totally backward thinking getting a fannylicker like that and expecting it to work, it might but will probably be use for f**k all.
marky b 309
I used to go ratting with a fella I'd have a couple of patterdales and a lurcher he'd have a spaniel and a whippet anyway this one time he fetches his wife's chihuahua x yorkie with him I laughed at him and gave him some stick because it wasn't much bigger than what we was going after lol well it surprised me I'd never seen a little dog turn so viscous it killed more than the whippet and my lurcher he takes it every time now lol

stabba 10,745
Pound to a penny says that wee dogs works to some degree. All breeds will if given the oppertunity. Maybe not to the standard of a purposley bred animal granted but maybe to the standard the lad wants it for. Be nice to see a thread in 12 months time on it's progress.
