baw 4,360
FFS, fancy giving your own grandparents rules to live by.. What they doing, spoiling your dog? Just be glad you've still got them, you will be able to replace your dog when it goes, you wont be able to replace your grandparents.. Or move out and get your own place, then you can set all the rules you want to.. If your dog is used to being round them and in their company all day you're going to have trouble putting it outside IMO.. Aye I was thinking that myself Link to post
baw 4,360
Get a radio in there too, it helps just put your headphones on I find it helps and ear plugs to all neighbors in a 100 meter circumference Link to post
mackay 3,586
What exactly can your grandparents do that would be in any way detrimental to your dog ?. Or are you thinking your dog will be soft due to getting it's ears rubbed etc, or perhaps you think your dog is bonding with grannie rather than you. That'll all change when the dog realises you provide the fun and sport. Whatever the reason mate I'd rather have my pup in the house with my grandparents than laid out in a kennel on it's tod. 3 Link to post

Aye I was thinking that myself You know what it's like mate, that dog is probably giving those poor old buggers a bit of enjoyment in the autumn years of their life. If the dog is more bonded to them than the lad who owns it he needs to put a bit more into his time out with the dog. Like the post above says, once the dog knows the score with regards to going out and doing a bit, things will change.. Link to post

Malt, I was gonna post similar mate on my first reply but I thought na, for once don't be a c**t and give him some advice but I seriously thought the same mate. I can't for the love of me think what the problem is. If anything, it can only end badly. Dogs gonna howl, grand parents are gonna resent him. If I was the grandparents, f****d if I would listen to a dog howl all day while he's at work. It would be stretched out on the sofa getting hand fed treats till 5 minutes before he comes in 2 Link to post

TOM HEAVY 140
mine was kept 1/2 house, 1/2 outside so bit of a head start in my case. Built a double skin kennel in yard and he loves it, quite as a mouse, no heat lamp or mat. It is very well cushioned though, and I've lined the whole box/bed with carpet. I also keep a jacket on my dog as his coat isn't that thick. hope this helps ATB Tom Heavy Link to post

matt101 115
A lot of varied responses from people on here. First of all thanks to the people who actually answered the question i asked and didnt go completley off on one about my grandparents! im not asking about whether i should ask my grandparents to treat my dog in a particular way or not, thats my decision, i was asking about your opinions on kenneling a dog after its been brought up in a house first. The reason i dont want them to look after my pup in the day any more is because they have been letting her up on the sofa, feeding her food i dont want her to be fed, feeding her from the table, i found that they put a substantial pan of bolognese down for her to eat and generally just not really listening to things that i have asked that they do. I am obviously still gratefull that they let the dog out for me whilst im at work but, if i had know that they werent going to treat her the way i wanted then i wouldnt have kenneled her from day one and i there wouldnt have been an issue, Edited January 30, 2014 by matt101 Link to post
