You only got watch them or see them react to somthing in pain they will get excited and could bite very easy. And and another thing if the dog saw the owner(pack leader) go down in trouble they might think its a good time to take over, dogs are pack animals. My 2 are soft as shit, but i think given the opportunity might attack, and the breed i suppose does have bearing on it, pit type would react prob quicker than more docile breed .
Sirius 1,391
You ever mix with the horse drawn Beltane crowd fireman? I heard their dogs were very territorial in camp. Yes mate know/knew a good few folks who live with horses and wagons, even had a open lot myself for a couple of years as it goes and my dogs were the same, they just knew when to guard and wouldn't let a stranger near my wagon when i wasn't there. .Most site dogs are the same and have allways let folks know when someones about but some are sure better at their jobs than others Being on sites a fair bit sure learnt me a thing or too about dogs, and people for that matter.

I agree as regards Pit Bulls reacting quicker they are so instinctive they often dont stop around to weigh things up i remember years ago someone i knew telling me about a big old Nelis bred Pit Bull he had owned.....his father was looking after the dog for the day and had a heart attack.......only for the fact the dog was going so mental and a neighbor looked over the fence to see the old boy laying by the back door that he survived.........unfortunately the very same dog was in the local paper a few months later for attacking a police horse outside the Spurs ground !........They are driven by the extremes of instincts in my opinion.
