Never heard so much bollox in my life.............collars are a accident waiting to happen !! Pffft, in 30 odd years of running lurchers I've never had a collar related accident, seen a few hit trees,

I do.   I can see many uses on a collar on a running dog.

Just an unfortunate accident, no different from running a dog around trees, sometimes they hit them. Would you say that people shouldn't run there dogs around trees?   I'll still stand by my post.

Always lamped with one on the dog.

Easy to put a rope under it in the dark

just as easy to chuck a rope lead over its head when it comes back the same to release a rope lead when you slip, no need for collars what so ever, but each to his or her own
