keepdiggin 9,567
I like what he did at Brighton and he was a VG Player. Who would you chose from who is available. Genuine Question lol I were hoping when Dave Jones gets the boot, We'd get Gary Megson back but looking very doubtful at the moment. Keep the faith.

youngo 20
They must of known his style and temperament before they brought him in though, and after giving him 19 odd million to spend you'd think they would have kept him a bit longer
gnasher16 31,120
I don't see it as a poison chalice, more of a 'you tried it your way and it's not working ' type thing. At Swindon they called it ' management by hand grenade ' and I'd say he was getting they way at Sunderland. He changed to many things to quickly, back room staff, 15 players out and 14 in and one of the highest wage bills in the league. His passion will never be questioned but his management and man management skills at a high pressure level always will. You say that but who gave him the green light for all them players ? who brought him to the club in the first place ?.........Did that not know what he was about as a character ? Ultimately the club brought him in and ok,d the decisions he made...................yet they,re slinging him out after 5 minutes cos the players dont like him telling them off for playing shit .......Strong manager weak club !!....it was there decision to get him live by the sword die by the sword and all that carry on
CBdogsA1 420
I agree yes someone at board level should also be accountable. Ultimately he wanted the players thinking they would be the right ones for the team / job. If then he can't get them to work his way, then yes he has chosen his players wrong for his style of play / management When you get your wages or pocket money then go buy something ( that you can't take back ) and realise it's not for you, do you then go back to your employer and blame him / her for giving you the money ? Nope, you take it on the chin and admit you f*^&ed up.

CBdogsA1 420
That is bang on yes, but there must be something else in the background that will maybe come out in the future.
Peter Leemooch 160
aye in glad his gone should never of brought him in the first place.a manager can't just come straight in and start laying the law down and expect to get the players respect he might of been a decent player but he a shite manager
ChrisJones 7,975
DiCanio canned 5 games into the season. It's almost like the board are intentionally f***ing them over...
WILF 49,435
Olympic stadium will hopefully be where the man becomes a great manager......until that time, who knows
gnasher16 31,120
Olympic stadium will hopefully be where the man becomes a great manager......until that time, who knows Cant see it mate......im not sure he,s really suited to premiership management.......i cant see him changing his ways to fit in can you ?.......I think its really sad.....i said it before but the fact that in todays game a manager like Brian Clough would probably not be able to hold a job down due to the attitudes of mediocre footballers........leaves you with a bit of a sour taste in the mouth, does me anyway. NEWKID 28,278
Great players don't make great managers, especially ones who expect the players to be on the same level as they were... A bit like Roy Keane.... I would of liked to have seen Di canio make it as a manager, but I think this will knock him back a fair bit now.... It's funny how fickle football is though and especially us fans... Last year he was the messiah for keeping Sunderland up... 5 games into this season he's shit lol...
andy s410c 62
For me I was concerned when he came to the club..then the 2 results & the ONLY 2 he got I thought perhaps we've got something special here. However results fell away & Arsenal did us a favour. I went to the Fulham game this season & we played decent football, looked sharp but lost 1-0 to Fulham's only chance but I was still very happy with the performance. After a decent point at Southampton I was very optimistic that we would be fine under PDC however the Palace game is where the rot started for him. Publicly showing the club captain up for 1 mistake, talking in riddles...Welcome to the PDC show...we've all read the horror stories about his regime & player power has prevailed here but i'm glad he's gone as he was out of his depth,no man management skills & come Xmas it would be to late to replace him. Whoever comes in has their work cut out at SAFC I just hope we can stop in the Premier league...
