Saluki246 1,053
why anyone would have a dog in there kennels that tackles sheep i do not understand ive spent year building up permission building bonds with farmer why would you risk that there should be a law in place where all dogs pet dogs aswell have to be stock trained as only to often you read in the local paper about this type of thing robert wouldnt own a stock worrier it would be pts ... both the dogs here have been around sheep since pups and have ran through sheep and been in the same field when sheep have took off... same with cows , heck a herd of cows chased my dog up the field one night on the lamp first time ive seen him jump a hedge without a thought Spot on lads. Its also good i think to keep up the stock breaking on a regular basis, so they don't forget, a few short reminders works well i find. my dogs see horses, cows and sheep daily ... they dont have the chance to forget Even better.. socks 32,253
I have only ever had one dog that no matter what was hell bent on killing sheep infact if it missed what it was running it would look for the next living thing to attack ... This pup was around all stock from 6 weeks of age but was just f***ing mental ... I tried everything and every time I thought I had sussed it she would do it again ... I put her in a pen with a big old ram at 6 months of age as the ram charged she sidestepped and pulled it to the floor by its head and would have killed it if I hadn't stopped her ... Tried her with a bulldog electric coller as a last hope ... She started to chase a sheep so pressed the button she kept running I turned the thing up to full power and it bent her head sideways practically looking back at me but she kept on running until the coller was out of distance she snapped her heD back straight and nailed the first sheep she got to ...... The dog was to be shot when out of the blue I got a call from some lads in Yorkshire who had heard about her from a friend of a friend etc ... I told them all about the dog but they reckoned they had no sheep and only wanted the dog for deer ... So off she whent .... 2 days later I had a very excited and puffed out phone call off the fella and in between his gasps I just made out its a horse she has latched on to a horses face and it running down the field with her ...... The dog was a brilliant worker fast clever and buckets of balls ... She killed her first fox at 7 months of age ... But she was just to much of a liability for me ... However these fellas reckoned she was the best deer dog they had ever had and lived to a ripe old age .......... SOCKS ........ 1 Quote Link to post

socks 32,253
The fukcing dog was a horrible b***%*d if you were out hunting and sat down for a break the dog would sit 10 foot away from you ... If you called it in it would come but as soon as you stopped stroking it she would feck off back ten foot away from you ... All it wanted from you was food water and to take it hunting ... The dog was emotionless if that makes sense and just wanted to kill anything and everything ........ Quote Link to post

I once encountered such a beast,....nothing would stop her, from killing everything, that she could overpower,.. Complete and utter fruitcake,...I tried my best,...but,..we had to part company,...permanently... Edited July 6, 2014 by Phil Lloyd 1 Quote Link to post
