I know where there are some very strange lines on the ocean bed

Go to google maps and put it onto satellite

Look for an island called Fuchal to the west of Morocco

South of this island is another "Santa cruz de la palma"

So if you go to the middle between these islands (halfway south from Fuchal) zoom in then go west you will see stange linear lines on the seabed!

Canny find Fuchal?????.................

My guess is it's an artifact of the image processing. Look anywhere else in the ocean and you'll see strange lines etc which don't make any sense either.

Have done, none match this for right angles or pattern

But there are still lines and ridges that go for hundreds of miles in the middle of deep Ocean. They can't exist in reality but do on the image.

Mushroom arrives in the office on Monday morning:

Collegue - Morning Mushroom, did you have a good weekend? get up to much?

Mushroom - I was supposed to get going out with friend but decided to spend the weekend looking for patterns on the ocean floor instead, found a brilliant line at one point, it was the best line I've ever seen on the ocean floor!!

I'm so glad I have a hobby!! :tongue2:

They can and do, thought someone with your background would have heard of plate techtonics?

Sorry Malt, I'm obviously aware of that, but I was under the impression Google maps was surface imagery in the visable colour spectrum not an actual map of the ocean bed with impossed colour correlating to the sonar image? So wouldn't display Plate boundaries? If it is the ocean bed then that is obviously the case with the strange ridges etc. Anyway that link basically gives the same explanation I did, the image processing software was full of flaws and created these unreal artifacts.

Of course the tin foil brigade will have a different opinion and a google cover up.

Yeah it's not an actual optical representation like the ground based part, I think it's a mixture of sonar and possibly a few other types of scans..
