Western Usa Bakes In The Heat

Recommended Posts

parts of america are expected to reach temperature of just one or two degrees below the highest temperature ever recorded on earth :icon_eek: All the weather seems to be extreme, Global warming, Climate change or whatever is definitely real of that there can no longer be any uncertainty. This heat wave is attributed to the shift in the jet stream the same shift that is making our summers wetter http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/06/29/heat-west-temperature-record-high/2475701/

Wish some of the warming would come our way instead of the wetting. Don't you start on the global warming nonsense - treehugger. :tongue2:

My sis-in-law lives in California and as the palest freckliest Irish redhead alive, she's not enjoying it.

When I was a boy of 9 or 10 we lived in Australia for a few years. When we moved from Melbourne to Perth we drove across the Nullabor Plain (in a Vauxhall Viva - straight up).

For several days of the journey the temperature reached 45C (113F).It was like nothing you can imagine - absolutely oppressive - and you felt like you would die if you did anything silly like run or even move too quickly. Sometimes you could hardly breathe it was so hot!

I saw on the news that Death Valley area is expected to reach 52C (over 120F), and I felt for the people who live there.

We're not talking a bit of nasty sunburn here - this is hot enough to kill you if you stay out too long!
