When we moved from Melbourne to Perth we drove across the Nullabor Plain (in a Vauxhall Viva - straight up). For several days of the journey the temperature reached 45C (113F).It was like nothing you can imagine - absolutely oppressive - and you felt like you would die if you did anything silly like run or even move too quickly. Sometimes you could hardly breathe it was so hot! I saw on the news that Death Valley area is expected to reach 52C (over 120F), and I felt for the people who live there.
