Jeff talks for fecking ever and IMO, it dont add up..........Its a product, he produces and sells. Can someone REALLY trace there family back 400yrs?? Let alone what dogs they had....It always struck me on the two times i have talked to him, its a load of old bollocks. I was lucky last time, someone managed to drag me away from him and his photo album...lol

A tumbler according to everything i have read is as others have said they way a dog catches its game. Apparently its more likely in whippet and the x's, i have two tumblers, both feck all to do with burrell...lol

Calling them "tumblers" sounds better than telling the truth and calling them clumsy lurchers i suppose!!

 @ Mike. Its just as well that the bloke stands out in a crowd as nowadays I seem to be too busy to go and talk to him if I spot him at a show.

The only thing that worries me about fanatics of any sort is that they truly believe their own hype :hmm: and expect other to as well: Our departed PM for one ( I can't belive that no one has ever commented about his initials being the same as one very contagious ursine disease!)

It would seem Mr Burrell has been"tumbled",or should that be "rumbled".?

I haven't got it to hand but i think in this months edrd he is advertising that he has three types of 'lurcher', maybe i have it from the web.

anyway, how he has done this feat when no one else has yet to bred a recognised true-breeding strain/type of lurcher.

God knows how many fogs he must have in order to keep all thing pure to type and ongoing.

Is the man other a living, walking talking genius or a living walking talking fraud?

has anybody out there got a tumbler i have n i think they are awesome dogs reply with a picture if poss

Where are the pictures of yours?

What is a 'Tumbler'?... I have read different descriptions/claims and I'm a little confused! :hmm: ..Burrell wrote on his web site, "Ben(right) is a specialist rabbit dog with superior agility and acceleration (for short dashes in small spaces). Sam (left) is 'up on the leg' with ground covering stride, more suited to hares in open spaces". Both the descritions refere to litter mates!...So according to "Lurcher expert Jeff" my Meg's must be a Tumbler...

"tumbler is different from a lurcher in that it tumbles as it strikes its prey, rolling over and over. There can be tumblers and lurchers in the same litter as the difference is in the build of the dog: one taking its prey on a run and snaffling it up whilst galloping, the tumbler, by virtue of its shoulder construction throwing itsefl at the prey and doing several rolls, or tumbles before coming up with rabbit in mouth."

Never have a i read such a load of sh*t in all my life.......surely people don't believe this crap do they?

though i did read somewhere that they "excell" at everything.....lol.... :clapper::clapper:

  • 2 weeks later...

my deerhound x has not only caught rabbits and foxs while tumbling along the ground but due to bad footing he once done a cartwheel and then caught the rabbit, beat that burrell, i now realise that i have the first and only strain of cartwheelers, that have been in my family for years ( 7 infact ), so now i will mass produce these hounds and sell them for mega bucks, anyone interested???
