walshie 2,804
Finally got all the nonsense with my mum's estate sorted, so I'm tarting up her house before I sell it. I can manage the inside, lick of paint etc but the garden is a mess and i have no idea where to begin. The entire lawn, front and back is knee deep with weeds and brambles. Can't see any grass through it at all. If I strim it all down, it will just be short weeds and no grass surely? Any ideas on how to make the lawns at least presentable? Ta. Malt 379
If you chop it all down and keep it down it should give the grass a chance to outcompete the weeds a bit but it all depends on how bad it is.. It might be gone too far..
forest of dean redneck 12,022
I would strim it first may not be that bad, failing that it's turf, fake grass, gravel or patio/decking depending on budget.
fireman 11,387
It will look worse for a bit but keep in short and try to dig out any bramble stems and like Malt says the grass will slowly come back.if not re seed it and just keep on top of the weeds and the only way to keep them at bay is to pull the roots up. It might be gone too far.. as malt saideven if you have a bit of grass put some feed and weed down should sort it but if itstatty around the edges just put some borders around your lawn john
