Hardest Decision I Ever Had To Make

Recommended Posts

Had my EBTxStaff put down today. she was only 2 and a half. got her from a rescue and she was absolutely brilliant at home, not fussed by the cat and didn't look twice at my little girl. unfortunately her fear started to come out as aggression towards strangers and dogs she didn't know. she was so attached to me and she wouldn't cope in a kennel so instead of letting a rescue have her and put her down i made the decision to take her myself because my little girl is growing up now and i wouldn't forgive myself if anything happened to a friend of hers when she's older.

not really looking for a response to this i just need to vent a bit. I know i did the right thing by her, she doesn't need to be scared any more, but its still a sad day for me. Plus i already know that you lot on here will agree that it was the right thing to do.

The worse thing is that at home she was spot on. Soft as shit she was, just galling that the aggression was as a result of fear. she was scared of absolutely everything, must have been terrible for her.

I hope i'm never in that situation but i'd do the same.

I've got a terrier who's a lunatic with other dogs and no use to me but is good with people and the kids and girlfriend love him so he's here to stay.

Tough decision but the right one mate. Had to make a similar decision with my 9 year old springer, didn't have to put him down but had to find him a new home. He started snapping at my toddlers fingers when he had food, and as you can't watch them permanently we had to make a really hard call. So feel for you chap.

Proper decision mate...only last night on here someone was wanting shot of a terrier that wasn't good with kids...and it got a home too...let's hope it was a 'forever' home (really unlikely for a 3 year old non-working patterdale on this site) because if it ain't and it eventually finds its way into a family home who knows what the end result could be...

You did the right thing...

cheers boys.

Think that'll do me for the EBTs now. Too much power there if it does get a bit tasty. will probably get the move to somerset sorted and will hopefully by then be ready for another pooch. probably something to take shooting, always fancied a springer
