Hearth Tiles --Malt

malt or anyone -----thread on here while back about log /wood burners cant fecking find it --- what tiles did you go for on your hearth have they stood the test of time and the heat ... :thumbs: stick some photos up looking for ideas ...

Sorry its a crap picture but these are just normal floor tiles mate I slapped them on using no more nails :D. The hearth doesn't really get hot but what will get hot is the plaster/brick round the back of the woodburner. My plaster is cracked from the heat.

AH right sorry.

 

In my front room we have a cast iron open fire. Under the ash pan is a concrete base and in front is a granite hearth. Neither has cracked etc but I don't like the look of granite (its like the stuff they make kitchen work tops from).

spoilt for choice -- gotta open it up see what will work - its the mrs doing my head over it i did the old quarry tiles up now she wants laminate its just a spare room for now :laugh: i hope once i`ve done it she spends as much fecking time as possible in there .... ;)

I just used normal ceramic floor tiles for mine, from what I looked up it was more important to ensure you stck them down with the right stuff than anything else.. I read somewhere that the best type of adhesive to use is the multi surface stuff you can use on wooden floors, rather than the normal cement based stuff. I've had no issues at all with mine.. :thumbs:
