Nik_B 3,791
Sorry its a crap picture but these are just normal floor tiles mate I slapped them on using no more nails . The hearth doesn't really get hot but what will get hot is the plaster/brick round the back of the woodburner. My plaster is cracked from the heat.
the_stig 6,614
cheers mine gonna be an open fire not a log burner ...cast iron surround
Nik_B 3,791
AH right sorry. In my front room we have a cast iron open fire. Under the ash pan is a concrete base and in front is a granite hearth. Neither has cracked etc but I don't like the look of granite (its like the stuff they make kitchen work tops from). Malt 379
I just used normal ceramic floor tiles for mine, from what I looked up it was more important to ensure you stck them down with the right stuff than anything else.. I read somewhere that the best type of adhesive to use is the multi surface stuff you can use on wooden floors, rather than the normal cement based stuff. I've had no issues at all with mine..
