Got a call from my old football manager last night " do you fancy a game Saturday "... I didn't think twice.... So I'll be walking like I've shit myself Monday, Tuesday and probably Wednesday next week lol.. Apart from a couple of vets games I've not played for a couple of seasons, can't wait to be honest... I'm only 36 so I reckon I've got 4 or 5 seasons left lol... Any of you older lads still playing??

I'm a lot older than you then. And I walk like that most days of the week. Usually because, despite doing nothing to cause it, I just have!

F**k it all. Enjoy yourself doing what ever you enjoy

You just wait till your brain says you can't do it. Your body says it has to!

That's it. Game over! Avoid eye contact as you do the 'John Wayne Stroll' to the nearest refuge :icon_redface:

Played till mid 30s then the knees give too much trouble. just started running the last few weeks at 48 and am aching more than what i anticipated.

It's my ankles mate, had to play with them both strapped and pain killers couple of seasons back...

When I was mid 20's I was playing decent enough standard, paid amateur, a bloke played a few games if we were short he was 48 and was absolute quality.... There's a bloke I've played with over the years he's over 50 now, still plays and has had both his knees done, another really good player though....... My favourite though was last year, I was playing an evening vets game and the opposition brought a player on he was 72, he lasted 10 mins made a couple of runs and was knackerd, fair play to the man though..

Fair play to the blokes involved. a bloke i knew played rugby union till he was 60 had to drop to the 4th team but still give it a go a very fit man in his time.

Haha your right mate I should, I've played on injuries over the years which doesn't help, played half decent men's football since I was 15, plus it's lack of fitness now... It's time to get training again.. The worst thing though is you just aren't as quick/good and it's frustrating when you can't react...

Mate I played not so long ago, the first time in 18 month, my head knew exactly what I wanted to do but my body had other ideas!! I was like a spider ball to feet and just ran into the corner even though I was wanting to cut inside and have a go! I'd said I just want to train with them get my fitness back, then manager said your stripped. Thought if I get the last 15 minutes I'll be delighted, NOPE got the first 72 minutes, sore for a week!!
