A Morning With The Hw77K (Graphic Warning)

Recommended Posts

Evening

Had a Little morning walk and stalk and was rewarded with two rabbits and another tree rat.

Really pleased with my shooting this morning as you know sometimes you just cant miss and other times you can hit anything.

great shooting stuart peachy rifle!

Magnificent rifles. I wouldn't trade my HW77 .22 for anything. Good shooting Stuart. Well done

do you think the77 is superior to the 97?? or is there nothing in it?? only asking as i am sorely tempted to flog the 410 and fancy a tuned 77 or 97 as the replacement. my sordid fling with pcp s has ran its course.

I really don't see any spring rifle better than the HW77 fry mate. TX200HC .177 is as good mind, that's for certain. I have a brand new 97KT that needs work on it to make it a contender as a precision accurate underlever. It remains yet to be seen what kind of capability it has, though, it was very accurate with H&N FTT prior to going to Andy's workshop.

My experience is definitely favouring the HW77. I've made some unbelievable long range shots with mine on targets And I won a THL meet HFT recoiling spring rifle class with a score of 50ex60 with it :toast: . If I hadn't fluffed shooting it while maintaining contact on the pegs I could have pushed my score even higher. But that's shooting for you! ;)

I definitely think you will be astonished just how accurate you can shoot with a well run-in HW77. Whatever calibre you choose fry!

The only real difference between the 77 and the 97 is that the early 77's have a 25mm piston (They are now 26mm piston) where I believe most (certainly the later 97's) have a 26mm piston and the integrated silencer. Lots of 97 owner's source the earlier 77 25mm pistons and comp tubes and retro fit them in the 97's as it is a drop in replacement and it gives it a reportedly sweeter firing cycle. I had an old hw77 with the 25mm piston, but it was unfortunately in a very poor state. I would have loved to have refurbished it but it would not have proven cost effective. In the end I sold it for parts on ebay, and got over £85 for the piston and comp tube alone.

Back on subject, that is a cracking example Stuart, it seems you as precise as a surgeon with it.
