Got around 60 tomatoes on the go, most from heritage varieties. Bought in a ton bag of compost at 51 quid, and put it down over cardboard to suppress weeds, so we'll see.... In the Greenhouse, Tom's small, sweetcorn shite, cucumber shite, courgette shite, peppers shite, chilli's oki'sh... Greenhouse if glass will draw the cold in. My grandfather has one of them electric tub heaters on at the min through the night. He's only just put his tomato seeds in. Just started to come through last few days. Most plants he's bought are in there too. Said there's plenty of time yet. We seem to have decent weather back end of year now. Seasons have gone due to climate over here in the uk. I did an experiment with Westlands peat free and Vitax peat. This one week after I pricked some little gems out at the same time. Westlands on the left Vitax on the right. This stuff is SHIT. This is brilliant but I'm finding it hard to buy locally . Now this stuff is what professional organic gardeners use. I bought a bag of an Organic farmer friend it looks lovely stuff and I have heard it's very good. So we will see. Cheers Arry Edited April 11 by Arry

See the difference with the pot ash blacky I use wood ash from the wood burner for potash but don't put it where you're going to plant spuds. Also don't put lime where you're going to put spuds. Plenty good well rotted dung or garden compost for spuds. Cheers Arry
