Its sort of the plant thinks it done its job by producing seed if you get my drift. Cheers Arry
Arry 24,858
Just a little thing on Cucumbers if any body is interested. I have had trouble with Powdery Mildew at times, white sort of fluffy spots on the leaves. I use a home made spray of Baking powder 1 Table spoon to 1 gallon of water. Well as I don't want a gallon kicking around I mix 3/8ths of a Tea spoon of Baking Powder to 1 pint. this seems to keep it at bay. I spay about once a week. I also have read mixing milk with water at 1 part milk to 10 parts water works but I have not tried that myself. Hope this might help. Cheers Arry

I’m in Northumberland and my pal who gave me the cucumber plants is about 150 mile south of me and hers are way in front of mine, in fact everything I grow is months behind her stuff. First time I’ve tried to grow Kohl Rabi, it’s a brassica and the edible part is the bulb between the roots and the leaves, supposed to taste like a cross between cabbage and turnip. Cheers. 1

I take it you cook it not eat it raw …. im in Baff … or Bath …. Your tomatoes look ahead of mine though and I put everything in the same time …but then I’ve had @Black neck as a mentor ,he’s ok on potatoes, but is lacking in other departments…. hence why I’m stretching out to your good self and @Arry lately , I fear I may starve …
Arry 24,858
I was digging the a row of Jazzy spuds as I needed them but they are changing colour and worried about blight so I dug them this morning. Its about a ten foot row and I have another that went in a bit later so try and leave them foe a while. Think these will end up as chips. Cheers Arry
