pet and working dog lives in the house 24 hours day 7 days a week, who ever says that they won't work when kept in the house talk SHIT

The problem is that there are loads of shit dogs around, both kennelled and in the house. Some people base their opinions on just one or two examples, and think ever after that it is set in stone. Ins

Some of my dogs are kennelled, but some live in my waggon, I can assure you my dogs working ability does not suffer from being allowed to sleep by a warm fire, that thing about it affecting their work

Hi lads, what do you think of keeping working dogs inside the house as pets?

The reason I ask is I was out lamping with a man who does and his dogs were shit. A buddy of mine does a lot of rough shooting and he said that any pet dog he'd seen had been shit too.

Any working dog I've had has been kept in a shed all day and only taken out to exercise and work them and sometimes let them follow me around the farm and if I do say so myself they were all fairly good.

What are your thoughts on this?

I think working dogs are better out side and that they give more my reason for saying this is from experience ' I just find that when the dogs been kennelled and with out you for the best part of 24 hours it really works harder and is eager to please and I'm not saying house dogs are not I'm just saying the dog seems a lot happier to see you walk in the Kennel Run than he is the front door ! Just my opinion before I get my head bit off :)

I think it's good to bring them inn a couple of times a week for a bit of bonding and have them trained so they no how to behave in the house

I would like my dogs in the house but I find I can get too frustrated with them in the house due too the extra mess that I have too deal with and then I find dogs trying too get there head in a bin or knocking over a beer can or knocking ash tray over just make me lose my temper on things that don't happen when there in a kennel plus I can have peace of mind knowing there nice and warm in there kennel and if they take a shit in there it's not a big issue easy cleaned unlike carpets and rugs so I find its up too the person if ur still putting the time in with ur dogs if there in a kennel or not u still have as a good of bond and I find its the amount of time u put in that gives u the quality of what u get out

Happy dogs work more effectively as far as I am concerned

Thanks for that reply, I never really thought about the dog being happier inside.

Admit it lamping lad, you've put this topic up as a windup  fair play mate, seems to be working :tongue2:

Partly, I've got the flu and I'm stuck in bed but I'm also interested in the topic.

You should go live in a kennel, get you used to the cold you won't get the flu then.

Having kennels comes in handy, but I personally wouldn't keep em kennelled full time, far too many thieving nerks around, and I also believe you do get a better bond, and enjoy the company of a dog around the house anyway

i keep mine in the hoose, but i would not mind keeping them kennels....there will not be any difference in the feild,my dog would get the same work,excersise,bonding,walks,food,etc....so why would were they sleep make any difference? :hmm:

Understand what you're saying, it's just that I personally feel alot easier when they're in the house

You're entitled to your opinion but I think that's a load of old shit.

If the dog hasn't seen you for a while he is more eager to please you? Lol.
