black rat

Recommended Posts

Do you mean a black coloured brown rat or the genuine black rat?

Used to get a few 'shippy's' on the caking warehouses on the docks years ago. The old boy I went with told me there were still some small pockets of 'em in most of the old docks around the country. ;)

Ship rat Is different to the brown,,,I did a course 10 year ago at kilgerm,, there was a father and son pest team there from Gibraltar ,, he was telling me most of there work was killing the black rat ,,Rattus rattus, If my memory is correct they called them tree rats ,, as apparently they are very good climbers and spend a lot of time in trees and high up....

Me personally have never seen one or trapped one

To be honest mate they were all most likely brown rats,,, brown rats come in a range of colours right down to black,,, and from what I have read,,, the true black rat, is a tad smaller, on average as a full grown adult,,, I have also killed many brown rats up in hedgerows.
