His dives went downhill a bit when he shaved the goatee off though! that goatee was a joke , all jokes aside for a season Pires was unplayable , remember watching him at Anfield taking Gerrard down the left wing and destroying him before setting up a winner , If Walcott had Pires football brain he would be the best in the world !

johnny boy68 11,726
With the exception of Messi, a lot of real skillful players go down easily, some to the detriment of themselves and then they get branded divers/cheaters, its the nature of the game these days and its here to stay unless the authorities start handing out bans for simulation. I actually think Ashley Young is one of the worst in the premier league for going down to easily, closely followed by Saurez and Bale.

Youngs Dive against Aston Villa at home last season was an utter joke, i knew a lot of UTD fans who were embarassed by it
Malt 379
With the exception of Messi.. Johnny, I genuinely believe you'd see a different player in Messi if he played in the Prem and he'd be hitting the deck a lot more. Our defenders just don't know how to handle fast, skilful players without fouling them and some players tend to make a meal of it.. We put far to much emphasis on the type of defenders who fly into tackles instead of ones who are more tactically/positionally aware, quick and skilful on the ball. It's why our teams are constantly being shown up at the highest levels IMO..
