silentrunner2011 218
law states its owners responability to control there animals. if a cat romes onto ur land its the owner of the cats fault not u as a dog owner, dog has every right to protect its land. cat wants to be silly then its tough shit
fitchet 788
One of my dogs is a b*****d for cats looks under every car we go past and the amount of times ive found him under a tree howling and yapping at moggies. I personnally wouldnt intetionally let my dogs kill a cat feral or not. If there are ferals that need controling its job for a rifle or trap imo.
scothunter 12,609
How many cone on your ground like? Simple answer if they are feral then yes, if there someone's pet no. Get it wrong and get caught your in trouble. Me personally if it was a bother I'd have dealt with it one way or the other on the quiet. Wouldn't even have came in here and asked.

jackinbox99 41
how do you determine a feral cat thats on your land? For me it would be one with out a collar, along with a bit of time spent speaking to folk that live on the said permission.. it's on my land mate. so if it dosen't have a collar then i can kill it? A lot of cat owners dont put a collar on their cat as cats a inquisitive creatures and have tendency to get into all sorts of places they shouldn't and if they have a collar on they can end up hanging themselves. So doesnt mean its not someones pet if it hasnt got a collar on it. I can see things from both sides with regards to cats. At my old house, my neighbour had 2 of them, and they would wake up, come out of his cat flap, climb my fence, have a great big dump in my flower bed, dig up all my flowers, then climb back over the fence and go back into his house. Used to make me livid and I seriously considered using my hushpower .410 on them, but I never did. I just used to sling the muck back over the fence. Some people say "oh well thats just cats". But, my missus has 2 cats herself and if they are outside, they actually come in, use their tray to do their business, then go back outside, they wouldnt dream of taking a dump in the neighbours garden. These days however, her cats are indoor cats and seldom go out after one of our neighbours ran over one of them and killed it.
silentrunner2011 218
if my dog shits in a kids sand pit and rips up there rubish bags and goes and does what it wants id expect it to be shot...same goes to the cats. i dnt care [bANNED TEXT] u guys think there getting chased if there in a field, pet or not...i got kids and it aint nice finding there shit in there sand and rubish bags getting ribbed aint no fun either, keep em in or thayl b on the list to be hunted in my opinion. darkie 143
i knew a jack russell once who had one eye ( he came back one night with it missing and his face a shredded mess) and a huge scar running down his chest from a car accident,he was the most ugly aggressive dog ive ever come across,if it moved however big it was he wanted to kill it ,anyway on the farm were he lived was a large population of feral cats and he would kill them on sight ,even a large tom he would savage to death and come back home with rips in his ears and great lumps of skin shredded of his face and back looking like hed been put through a mincer ,as for the law concerning cats i dont know ,but i guess it all comes down to if someone can prove your dog is out of control, also the type of person you are im afraid ,a gentleman shooter whose spaniel has killed a cat will fare better than a lad of an estate whose staffy has killed one
Carraghs Gem 1,699
I must be one of the few on thl with a soft spot for cats, im in process of stockbreaking the pup to our own cat but i understand the feral population of cats needs controling, im in a rural location so the likelihood of my cat being a nuisance to others is relatively low Instead of a collar Im thinking of marking the cat with sheep marker so he is easily identified as my property and not a feral
Chid 6,748
feral cats = shoot them , you cant let your dog kill them as it is against the law ... got loads of feral cats near me but they aint doing no harm so no point in killing them ..
WILF 49,567
law states, if its on ur own land nothing can be done, if thay were so concerned about there moggys thay would keep them in.... same as cats killing mice. its nature im affraid. i looked into it when my dog retrived one to me :-) if u were slippin the dog on them for fun then u can be done, but if ur dogs off the lead and gets one well thats tough shit on the cat. but if ur dog goes into there garden and screws it then ud b in shit as u should have "control" over ur dog...if my bullx wants a cat theres nothing id do to stop him....i cudnt call my dog back when hes decided hes chasing it. An accident is an accident, in the middle of nowhere then it's probably a feral so the hunting act would apply as with all mammals.........BUT killing a cat anywhere near a built up area is a c**ts turnout, it's probably some little kids or family's pet and there's no f*****g reason to do it......it proves f**k all about a dog it's just killing for the sake of fingering your own arse in my book!
TOPPER 1,809
as long as the cat was NOT on his own property you have nothing to worry about
scothunter 12,609
Put your rubbish bags in the bin, unless that crazy cat women is around they won't be able to rip open the bags. Get a cover for the sand pit.
scothunter 12,609
You checked up what? That you can set your dog on them in your garden? And shoot them! Away and throw shite at the moon!
