stewie 3,387 Posted August 26, 2012 Author Report Share Posted August 26, 2012 yeah i lived there on and off for 3years mate.South Africa and west africa when mate??? and whereabouts in west africa?? ghana mate it was 2000-2003 bud how/why did you end up over there mate??? do they speak english in ghana??? went over with my mum & dad mate. Yeah they do speak english and also very friendly. Still needs big guard dogs and a armed secuirty guard though. lol lol ill try kenya then....would you go back there??? stewie 3,387 Posted August 26, 2012 Author Report Share Posted August 26, 2012 Stewie , my mate did the whole safari thing and hated every minute , he said you,d be better off going to one of our safari parks , everything is stage managed for the tourist and you never actually get to see any truly wild animals , he also said the locals walk round with macheties and would chop your feet off for a decent pair of trainers , they eye up a pair of nikes like Lab looks at a fox . im on about africa not toxteth........ :whistling: Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I was lucky to see most if not all of the wild animals that Africa has to offer .... The size difference in the animals in the wild compared to zoos is amazing ... Kenya mate ,,to top it all off he came back with malaria , still has attacks today , as he was self employed cost him his livelyhood, it,s fair to say that Africa is not his favourite place . I was in Naynuki and Archers Post for about 2 months and have had a fairly similar experience. Ive always wondered if those small hare sized antelope things ran like a hare or not. NEWKID 29,096 Posted August 26, 2012 Report Share Posted August 26, 2012 I went to Kenya around 12 years ago, stayed out 2 days on one safari in tents and then done a 4 day safari to different parts of 2 reserves. The scenery was breathtaking as vast as you can possibly imagine with animals everywhere saw all the main animals, waited most of the night to see a leopard which came to a bait set up a tree. Just missed a lion kill but it wasn't just the big animals the bird life was amazing and done some diving too which was great......... Downsides....... I like to get out and about but this was not a place I felt safe being in, the poverty is obvious and you are rich.... The week before the tent safari the camp was held up and everyone was robbed, we were assured of higher security ( a bloke with a bow and arrows ws all I could see) that was a strange nights sleep...... The constant hassling once you left the hotel got a bit much every couple of steps they tried to sell you something, they have no choice I know but there's only so much you can buy and so many times you can say no.... I wanted to go since I was a kid and I'm pleased I did, I think it's just a place you need to keep your wits about you..... 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

riohog 5,939 Posted August 27, 2012 Report Share Posted August 27, 2012 the first time i was in africa was 1973 ,that was east africa and the cape . and a few bits in between i was also down in the cape 4 years ago .. gret country apart from apatied it aint changed much it was a dangerous place 40 years ago still is now you need your witts about you ,. but keep out of the big citys a night , they just kill you and rob you for fun !!
