noricus 2
Actually all deviations color, hair or behavior from the type of a wild canid.ie coyote/wolf or primitive dog like a dingo/laika are caused by defective genes which are usually recessive, of course not all make the dog sick, but virtually all would reduce their chances of survival in the wild. recessive Genes can resurface after many generations, a process greatly furtherd by inbreeding and the reason most lines wither away after some generations of inbreeding/linebreeding since lethal genetic disorders are also recessive and therefor you can say inbred dogs are generally less healthy!!!!: remember most breeds are not more than 100 years old, and breeding to some invented standard was not a general practise when WORKING-Ability and VITALITY where first in the minds of (working) breeders, and as they say colour doesn´t hunt! ......"linebred" has a positive image that is rarely deserved and the weakened vitality and general fitness seen in many purebred dogs is the inheritance of this practise, so while blue( dilution of pigment9 is ascociated with some what reduced immunesystem, if it works and is constitutionally sound the old Rev.Russell would not have hesitated keeping it!! Chid 6,845
im sure i read on here some where , if you breed 2 whites you cant get a coloured its genetically impossible .. Something else added to give the color how i read it (might be wrong) whites cant have coloureds .. so even if its patterdale x russell but its white put to a russell pups will be white ... like i say could be wrong, gonna go try find the post now 1 Quote Link to post
